The Genesis of Eden

In the beginning… We loved her as you will love her.

The Eden clothing line is fueled with inspiration by a 4 ½ year old little girl named Eden. Eden was born with Cystic Fibrosis and Asthma. Cystic Fibrosis is an incurable disease which severely affects the respiratory and digestive systems. Eden’s type of Cystic Fibrosis has a life expectancy of 25-35 years.

Eden is so sweet, sassy and full of life, she’s a spitfire whose unwillingness to break undoubtedly keeps her family whole and afloat on a daily basis. Eden looks just as healthy as you and I however, she is a very, very sick little girl. She goes through more (medically) than any normal 4 ½ year old does in their lifetime. In May, 2006 Eden had to undergo two major abdominal surgeries. A nissen fundoplication and the insertion of a gastrostomy tube (mickey button) for tube feedings during the day and at night.

Eden has 1 healthy sister and 2 healthy brothers, all of whom will attend college or trade schools and have careers. Eden can and hopefully will do the same but the reality that we all deal with is what happens when she’s too sick to either attend school or complete a work day? Will she become depressed dealing with her illness? Will she start to feel like a failure? Not if her family has anything to do with it! Thus EDEN clothing was born…

This beautiful little girl is now a business owner. With the help of her family and those who support her business she will have the best medical care and the opportunity to attend college or a trade school whichever and whatever school she chooses. She will have friends and people (who she has never met) all around the world that love her and support her as we do. Are you one of them?

All designs are hand picked by Eden! Would you like to submit a design for Eden to check out? Think your design is sweet enough for this little girl? Submit it now, click here. If your design is chosen by Eden you’ll be the first to sport it FREE!

Our Eden and her family focus on many different medications daily to keep her healthy so she doesn’t skip a beat. Eden is soft yet tough enough to endure the schedule of treatments her Cystic Fibrosis team has set for her. Could you walk in her shoes? Check it out.

Eden’s daily regimen of medical treatments is as follows:

AM~

1. Breathing treatments with a nebulizer consisting of 4 different medications to aid in the treatment of Cystic Fibrosis and Asthma.

2. 1 Prevacid pill and 1 ADEKS vitamin

3. The vest… an airway clearance system (a special vest which inflates to hug her body snug while administering compressions to her chest which mimics coughing to break up the thick sticky mucus which collects on her lungs so that it can be cleared by coughing or suctioning.

4. 4 oz of Pediasure given manually through her mickey button (a device surgically implanted into her stomach for quick and easy feedings of high calorie formulas. There are no tubes permanently attached to Eden’s mickey button that’s the great thing about it she doesn’t have a tube connected at all times , we connect the tube and disconnect at feeding times.)

PM~

1. Early afternoon~ 4 oz of Pediasure given manually through her mickey button.

2. In the evening… The vest (this is done twice a day for 20 minutes)

3. 3 different breathing medications given through the nebulizer

4. At bedtime we start her 12 hour feeding of Pediasure through her feeding tube.

All throughout the day~

Creon 10 ~ enzyme pills designed to aid in the digestion of food, minerals and vitamins. (Eden’s pancreas does not produce the enzymes that a normal healthy body does in order to digest food so she takes her enzymes orally) 2 with meals and 1 with snacks.

What would you do if you only had 25 years with the one you love?
